One of the newer neighborhoods surrounding San Diego, Carmel Valley was formed in early 1975. The construction of this well-thought community began later in 1983. The town was given its name after the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy, who once owned and operated a dairy farm and monastery in the area.

The home styles in this master-planned community primarily consist of modern and contemporary residences. The typical home value is $1.1 million. With so much to offer, it’s no wonder why the Carmel Valley housing market is extremely competitive.

Nestled within nature, living here is great for outdoor enthusiasts. Carmel Mountain Preserve has two main trails: a 2.7-mile trail and a 5.3-mile trail if you’re up for something a bit more intense. These trails allow you to enjoy scenic ocean views and wildlife. To the south of Carmel Valley is Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, where you can stroll through the woods along a creek.
